Who we are

 

Dee Pannell, Mary McLean and Nicole Wilde form the diverse team at Body Corporate Matters each with a shared passion to provide information and assistance to unit owners trying to navigate the complex Body Corporate Legislation in Queensland

We are the Editors and Publishers of  The new Body Corporate Law Handbook (Qld) 2022.   We envisage releasing the  The New Layperson’s Guide to Body Corporate in Queensland in 2024.    These valuable books are a reference guide to the many provisions of the Body Corporate & Community Management Legislation to assist owners and other stakeholders that work in the Body Corporate Industry in Queensland . 

Our Mission

Is to provide -

About Us

Dee Pannell

Dee commenced working as a Conveyancing Paralegal in both Victoria and then in Queensland for over 25 years.  Dee started Sun City Legal Services over 20 years ago and this business is still providing quality Due Diligence Reports for Unit Buyers and Disclosure Statements for Sellers in Queensland.   Dee has also worked as a Returning Officer for Secret Ballot motions.  

Dee was the Creator/Inventor of the StrataVote electronic voting software.

Dee is passionate about providing unit owners with a source of information and education.  It is important that owners or prospective owners have access to  "simple english" information.

Mary McLean

Mary is a unit owner, an experienced committee member, and also a member of the Owners Corporation Network (OCN) the national organisation for unit owners.  Mary is an acknowledged industry expert who has been secretary/treasurer of a self-managed complex for many years and helping unit owners with their problems for over 20 years.     Mary encourages unit owners to consider joining these self-help and advocacy groups.

Nicole Wilde

Nicole completed her Bachelor of Laws at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand in 2008 and commenced working for an Auckland law firm specialising in class-action claims by strata owners and bodies corporate for building defects in apartment buildings. Before relocating to Australia in 2014, Nicole also worked as a criminal Crown Prosecutor and Disciplinary Prosecutor specialising in estate agent misconduct.

In Australia, Nicole specialised in strata law and was responsible for running the body corporate litigation and advice practice as a Partner of a well-regarded Melbourne law firm. Nicole represented hundreds of Bodies Corporate for apartment schemes with a focus on promoting compliance and maintaining community harmony.

Nicole now dedicates her unique insight and over a decade's experience in strata as a professional Body Corporate Manager and Co - Editor of the Body Corporate Law Handbook (Qld).
